1. Neutrogena Makeup Remover – Best Travel Product

natural makeup remover for sensitive skin

Do you travel for work or pleasure and are sick of waking up looking like a raccoon? Perhaps you find the hotel soap to be too harsh and generally ineffective for removing makeup.

If that’s you, don’t fret! The Neutrogena Makeup Remover is travel-friendly, easy on the wallet, and actually removes makeup without leaving your skin all dried out!

As one of the best eye makeup remover-wipes on the market today, it should come as no surprise that they’ve also been rated the number one best-selling makeup remover by many publications. The towelettes work to get rid of up to 99.3% of even the most stubborn makeup, such as waterproof mascara, in one step.

There are plenty of makeup removers out there that work, but they take three, sometimes four steps just to get your face clean, and they come in bottles that are definitely not easy to take traveling. These gentle cloths feel great on the skin, and since they rinse off excess oil, dirt, and makeup, you don’t have to rinse your face afterward.

With that being said, these are great if you don’t have access to running water and you need to wash your face, like camping, for example.

Have sensitive skin or eyes?

No problem!

Even if you wear contacts, these cloths are dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested, as well as allergy tested. Oh, and they’re alcohol-free, so none of that stinging will occur.

Anything we didn’t like?

We didn’t like the fact that you need a garbage can to dispose of these, as you cannot flush them. That’s something to keep in mind if you don’t have a trash receptacle handy.

What We Liked

  • Gentle and smooth on the skin; great for sensitive skin and/or eyes
  • Easy to travel with
  • Removes almost all makeup, dirt, and excess oil

What We Didn’t Like

  • Not flushable

Bye Bye Makeup 3 in 1 – Editor’s Pick

makeup remover for oily acne prone skin

The best face makeup removers typically don’t come in the form of wipes, and although they are handy, if you can do it, we’d recommend choosing something in a jar or bottle.

The best ones are usually more effective (however, we can’t say every single one is better than the wipes). We had to throw the Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 because it just impressed us so much.

Initially, you’ll see that the makeup remover comes in a good-sized plastic jar. We were kind of expecting some type of clear gel-looking product and were surprised to find a solid balm upon opening the jar.

However, it doesn’t have a lotion-like consistency. Instead, it’s kind of oily, and you’ll find that it will start to melt when it touches your skin, not unlike coconut oil. It even smells kind of tropical.

Keep in mind, that your skin must not be wet or damp when you use it; make sure everything is completely dry; even your eyes and eyelashes. Simply rub it into the skin; everywhere you need to clean and remove makeup from.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that the makeup started to come off right away.

Unlike with some other makeup cleansers, the Bye Bye 3-in-1 must be washed off with water afterward. We noticed the tiniest feeling of cleanser left over, and it’s similar to the feeling you have if you have lotion or oil on your skin and wash it off.

We will say that it does hydrate the skin and leave it feeling and looking very healthy!

The makeup remover works wonders for any type of skin: normal, oily, combination, dry, and/or sensitive! The product was developed with help from plastic surgeons and is ophthalmologist-tested. The product is infused with an anti-aging serum, as well as deep-cleansing extracts and botanicals to keep you looking young and glowing.

The formula itself contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants, and more.

If you need even more extreme hydration, simply leave the cleansing balm on for 60 seconds!

What We Liked

  • Great for all skin types
  • Contains anti-aging serum, along with botanicals and cleansing extracts
  • No parabens, sulfates, or phthalates are included
  • Works very quickly

What We Didn’t Like

  • The scent is a hit-or-miss
  • Leaves a slight residue

Belif Cleansing Gel Oil – Best Product for Oily Skin

best face wash for sensitive acne prone skin

We’re going to preface this by saying that we do not recommend the Belif Cleansing Gel Oil-Enriched if you have dry skin that needs hydrating.

While it says oil-enriched, we experienced no extra hydration that we’d hoped would come from the “oil-enriched” part of the name. However, if you have oily skin and are sick of cleansers that just add to the oil, then check this one out!

The packaging is nice and looks high-quality. You can tell that it’s durable and made of solid materials. The formulation itself, has a thick consistency like one would expect from a gel cleanser, however, the way it worked was very similar to the 3-in-1 balm.

Again, like the balm, it also is to be applied on completely dry skin, which makes things pretty easy to get going. Simply massage it into the skin of your face and neck, and it will start dissolving the makeup and grime right away. If you’d like to get a little crazy, add a bit of water to emulsify and break the oil down. Then, when you’re done, rinse it away with water.

The makeup cleanser was super efficient, breaking down the makeup right away. It even worked wonders on waterproof mascara! However, it does say on the bottle not to get it in your eyes, so if you do have sensitive eyes, maybe steer clear of this one.

What did our skin feel like afterward?

It was nice and smooth; healthy-feeling. However, it didn’t necessarily “hydrate” our skin, so if you’re looking for extra hydration, we’d recommend another item in this guide.

Overall, a makeup cleanser is to do just that: cleanse your face and make it free of makeup! The Belif does the job well and does it quickly.

What We Liked

  • Removes makeup very quickly and easily
  • Thick, gel-like consistency isn’t messy
  • No parabens, phthalates, or sulfates

What We Didn’t Like

  • Not ideal for those with oily skin

Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads – Best Product for Eye Makeup

best makeup remover drugstore wipes

So, you need something you can take with you on-the-go, but can’t find pads that effectively remove eye makeup; at least, not without it making your eyes all red and irritated.

Luckily, you’ve come upon the Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads, which are about to make your day a whole lot better!

You may already be familiar with Simple. The company was the first to make a cleansing product for sensitive skin with no perfume or artificial dyes included. They’ve kept consistent with that, and these pads are no exception.

Even if you have sensitive skin, eyes, or wear contacts, you can ensure your lashes and eyes are completely safe from any irritation that many other eye makeup removers would cause. As the best makeup remover wipes for sensitive skin, the formula has been tested by both dermatologists and ophthalmologists, so you know this product can be trusted.

They work to completely remove the liner, shadow, and/or mascara from your eyes, all while remaining free of oil and alcohol, so there’s no risk of stickiness or any drying-out of the skin you’re cleaning.

What do they have in them?

All healthy ingredients, including vitamins E and B5, to support healthy skin that looks and feels amazing. They gently clean your skin, leaving it soft and smooth, and are all packaged in a convenient little container that you can re-seal whenever you’re not using them. Throw them in your purse, suitcase, or gym bag, and off you go! No water is needed, so you quite literally just need the wipes.

What We Liked

  • Includes various vitamins to boost skin health
  • No water needed
  • Hydrates, rather than drying out the skin
  • Great for those with sensitive skin, eyes, or contact-wearers

What We Didn’t Like

  • Not flushable

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water – Quickest Product to Use

best facial cleanser for dry skin

Yes, we know we literally just covered another Simple product, but we couldn’t forget their Micellar Cleansing Water!

If you need a straightforward, simple product but want something lighter than a balm, gel, or makeup remover pads, check this out!

As one of the best face makeup removers, the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water thoroughly cleanses and rehydrates the skin, all while unclogging your pores! It may sound rough on the skin, but it’s anything but. Just because it’s effective, doesn’t mean it has to irritate!

Made with triple-purified water and a collection of skin-healthy ingredients, this cleanser features tiny little globes called “micelles” which work against dirt, oil, and makeup, and dissolve it! If you have sensitive skin, then you’re really going to enjoy this water.

If you have dry skin, this may just be the one for you, too!

It boosts skin hydration by up to an impressive 90% just after the first-time use! Your skin will be feeling soft, revitalized, and you’ll notice a glow about you. This is partially due to the fact that it doesn’t include any type of artificial perfumes, dyes, nor harsh chemicals.

The other part is due to the inclusion of vitamins B3 and C which are wonderful for the body, both inside and out! B3 restores, softens, and smooths dry skin, while vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant that also works to help soothe the skin.

It’s so effective, in fact, that it even took home the Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner back in 2015!

The water goes through an advanced purifying process, where it’s enriched with all kinds of vitamins to make sure your skin is feeling its best. Oh, and did we mention that there’s no rinsing required? Just put a good amount of the cleansing water on a cotton ball or pad, and wipe the makeup and dirt away!

Best Makeup Cleanser  – Buyer’s Guide

Perhaps you still have some questions about which of the best makeup cleansers to buy; that’s okay! That’s the reason why we’ve gone ahead and created this buying guide, so you can simply go through each category, and by the end, know exactly what you should be using, and why!

Do you have a preference as to which kind of makeup cleanser you want to use? Let’s think about your lifestyle a bit here. Do you find yourself in hotel rooms while traveling, and just need something quick and easy to pack along?

If so, we highly recommend some kind of cleansing wipes or pads. These products are found in nice, little resealable packages that you can toss in your luggage or handbag, and not have to worry about anything spilling or getting messy. You also don’t have to worry about a bottle is too large to take on the plane with you.

If you like really settling down and taking your time to remove your makeup, then you can go with other options, such as a gel, balm, or even a micellar water. The ones on our list are all very effective and often work quicker than a pad or towelette would.

Skin Type

Do you know what kind of skin type you have? Keep in mind that not every cleanser is made equally within the skin types. Oily skin, for example, probably isn’t going to do well with a cleanser that’s ultra-hydrating, however, it’s not a rule. Sometimes the oily skin is exacerbated by products that do the opposite: drying. It’s best to just find a neutral product if you have oily or combination skin.

If you have dry skin, pay special attention towards making sure you don’t purchase a cleanser that’s going to dry your skin out, or that can cause irritation. Pick a product that leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated.

The best makeup cleansers actually vary quite a lot in terms of pricing, so think about how much you’re willing to spend before you really start looking into purchasing one. Generally speaking, you’ll find that the makeup towelettes and pads are going to be less expensive than the gels, balms, and micellar water.

In contrast, just because a product is expensive, does not mean that it’s going to work better than its less-expensive counterpart. Make sure to read the description and make sure the product works for you before even looking at the price.

Do you pay special attention to the ingredients of your cleansers? Perhaps you only want to purchase products that are cruelty-free. There are plenty on our list that is, so you shouldn’t have any issues there.

The vast majority of them are also free of potentially-harmful phthalates, sulfates, and parabens, which is never a bad idea to try and avoid.

If you need something packed full of vitamins, then you’ve come to the right place, because literally, each one on this list has vitamins to further boost the health of your skin!

So, which of these are the best makeup cleansers for you? If you’re still having some questions, might we suggest our personal favorite: the Bye Bye 3-in-1 Cleansing Balm

First of all, the product looks high-quality in its plastic jar. When you open it up, you can tell that the balm is also made with the finest ingredients. It is probably the most travel-friendly cleanser aside from the towelettes and pads, too.

The cleanser works quickly and efficiently, dissolving away makeup, dirt, and oil as you gently massage the product into your skin. No water is required, and you don’t need to do any kind of rinsing afterward, either.

So, which of the best makeup cleansers will you be taking home with you today?
