Vice Lipstick – Best Lip Product
Having trouble picking out the perfect lipstick shade for your skin tone or your mood? How about if you had 100 colors to choose from?
Recently, Urban Decay launched one of the largest lipstick collections ever – 100 shades, to be exact. The new Urban Decay Vice Lipstick is truly unique, and will even have you with dozens of new shades if you’re not careful!
The lipstick is a new pigment-stacked formula, encased in a beautiful, classy metallic tube that resembles a shotgun shell. Each “bullet” is also embossed with the famous UD logo, just as most of their products have.
However, not every single shade of the collection is the same; they’re split into six different textures, which are: mega matte (the flattest matte with no shine), comfort matte (matte with a creamy texture), cream (the original texture), metallized (pearl cream texture), sheer (sheer color with glossy finish), and sheer shimmer (sheer, but with extra pearly finish).
The Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Liar is possibly the most popular one, and is a kind of pink-nude that goes with just about anything; that is to say, it looks just as great on a night out, as a day at work!
Aside from that, we’d like to mention a few more!
Disturbed is another favorite, and is a kind of deep, brick red in the comfort matte. This has a kind of rocker vibe, but can be dressed up easily. Naked is similar to Liar, except is a cream instead of a more sheer finish. Conspiracy is a bronzy metalized plum that is very edgy and modern but still toned down enough for office settings or the like.
If you’d like to go even bolder, you have quite a selection, as well!
Take Heroine, for example, it’s a deep navy blue that gives an almost futuristic vibe. We can see this being worn in a nightclub, standing out among the flashing lights.
Finally, we can’t leave out Perversion; a matte black, much like UD’s iconic eyeliner. This goes with anything if you want it to!
Are there any other differences between the formulas?
They all vary in terms of comfort and how long they last. Mega Matte is going to be the driest, yet the color and coverage will last you the longest. The Sheer shades will definitely be the most comfortable/natural-feeling but will come off the quickest.
Cream is the original formula, and works well; it is smack dab in the middle. Sheer is very similar to the cream and feels comfortable as well.
However, all of the formulas apply very smoothly and evenly on the lips. They’re all created with lip conditioners, nourishing oils, hydrating butter, and even vitamins. With that being said, these are wonderful to keep in your bag for daily use, or special occasions. At such a great price, you’ll definitely want more than one!
What We Liked
- Comes in a huge variety of shades and finishes
- Great price
- Moisture and help boost the health of lips
What We Didn’t Like
- They all differ in terms of durability and comfort
All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Spray – Best Setting Spray Product
If you take a look at the Urban Decay top sellers, you’ll undoubtedly find their All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray on there.
The classic has recently been revamped from its original formula, but we’ll be honest: it’s nothing too different from the original.
The packaging now comes in a plastic bottle with a spray nozzle to spritz it onto your face. It delivers a very fine mist that can be applied without making the face actually feel wet and dries in under two minutes.
Something that’s often an issue with setting sprays, is that while it definitely sets the makeup, it gives an effect that almost makes it look thicker or caked on. With the UD All Nighter, this isn’t an issue!
It’s important to mention that it does kind of add a bit of shine to the face, but if this bothers you, it can quickly be corrected with a little brush of setting powder. Make sure to shake the product well before applying, and hold the bottle away from the face. While misting, apply two to four times in an “x” and “t” shape.
The setting spray was created together with Skindinavia and works great with all skin types. It also features patented temperature control technology.
What is that?
It’s a new feature, which actually lowers the temperature of your makeup, to keep your foundation, eyeshadow, etcetera, in place, even in the hottest, most humid of climates!
We also loved the fact that the product contains no parabens, sulfates, nor phthalates!
We discovered that while the bottle boasts the spray being able to hold the makeup in place for up to 16 hours, it lasted us more like 8-10.
What We Liked
- Good price
- Great for any skin type or tone
- Doesn’t make makeup look “cakey”
- Dries quickly
What We Didn’t Like
- Doesn’t really hold up the full 16 hours
- Adds a bit of shine to the face
Primer Potion – Best Product for Priming Eyelids
Next up, we have the Primer Potion! If you have trouble with applying your eyeshadow on smoothly and evenly, this is for you. If you have issues with your eye makeup creasing or simply coming off too soon, this is for you!
Urban Decay always hits the mark on their packaging, and this tiny bottle is here to impress inside and out! The newer packaging features Ombre artwork, along with a faceted, jewel-like cap. Squeeze the potion directly from the tube, or for more precision, use the flocked wand applicator.
The texture is a very smooth, silky gel-like cream. It feels amazing. If you do have super-dry skin, you may find that you’ll need a pretty substantial amount of the product, but if that’s not the case, then just use a little drop.
The space-age polymer technology fills in any little imperfections on the surface of the skin and preps your eyelids for long-lasting shadow. In addition, it’s going to work to make your eye makeup really pop and you’ll notice that they’re more vibrant and bold.
As you can see from the first photo, there are different colors or types. The first finish is the Caffeine, which is a rich warm, brown matte finish. This works perfectly for deeper skin tones and is also wonderful for intensifying brown shadows.
The Freebase is the opaque white matte and is used to brighten and/or intensify any shade of shadow. Finally, there’s Sin, which is a pale nude shimmer, which obviously adds a bit of sparkle to your lids.
It blends wonderfully on every skin tone out there and dries on invisibly. The one thing we didn’t really like, is that the product itself does dry out very quickly unless you’re diligent about keeping the lid on whenever it’s not in use.
What We Liked
- Comes in a variety of options/finishes
- A 24-hour wear, ensures vibrant, crease-free wear
What We Didn’t Like
- Dries out quickly if not careful
Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage – Best Concealer Product
If you’re wondering about Urban Decay’s top sellers, you’ll need to become acquainted with their Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer.
They have expanded upon their Naked Skin makeup collection, with this concealer that will blow you away by how well it avoids settling into fine lines and wrinkles! While the term “flawless” is often thrown around, we can’t promise that, but we can say that we were certainly impressed by how close this product got us!
The packaging is pretty standard: a clear tube with a doe-foot wand applicator. It’s fragrance-free, which is nice, and because many don’t like having to smell a primer all day.
The product goes on nice and creamy and spreads easily with or without the wand applicator. However, don’t sit there and take your time with application, because the one major complaint we had about this was that it dried really quickly.
Any blending needs to happen at that moment, or you’ll probably end up with the concealer staying right where you originally applied it, instead of spread out evenly over your skin.
The coverage isn’t quite as heavy as some others, but that’s also a good thing, as it has a “barely there” feel and doesn’t enhance fine lines like many others do. However, if you feel you do need more, It’s easily built to full coverage.
It really shines at concealing blemishes or any uneven skin tones or facial redness! Not only that, but it does a really solid job at staying put throughout the entire day. If you have dark circles and want to cover them up, the Weightless does a great job there, as well. Just make sure that if your skin is dry, you should use some kind of moisturizing cream or hydrating primer first.
How are they with skin tones?
The product comes in a variety of shades, and there are 11 natural-looking options available from fair to darker-medium skin tones. If you have dry skin, you’re also going to love the mix of antioxidants that it comes packed with.
What We Liked
- Doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles
- Includes 11 natural-looking shades
- Creamy product spreads easily
- Great at covering blemishes, redness, or dark circles
What We Didn’t Like
- Dries very fast
24/7 Glide On – Best Eye Product
Are you tired of eyeliners that are just unsatisfactory? We understand! We see so many that are so pointy they feel like they’re going to stab right through the eyelid. Other times you press and press but the color doesn’t show, or if it does, it’ll soon smear off after.
However, there is a remedy, and that remedy is the 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner.
This creamy, long-lasting, award-winning, waterproof liner will have you forgetting any others even exist! We can confidently say that this is the best eyeliner we’ve ever used, and it’s no wonder they’re at the top of the Urban Decay Must Haves of 2018.
When you take it out of the box and slide the lid off, you’ll instantly notice the rich, brilliant color of the product, itself. However, it’s not going to compare at all to how it will look once it actually goes on your eyelids!
The creaminess is unmatchable for a pencil liner, and it goes on velvety-smooth, which is not only comfortable and easier to apply but also makes it perfect for blending in with other liners or eyeshadows or creating the perfect smoky eye.
This brilliant liner is surprisingly waterproof for how soft it is. Most liners in this category of softness would quickly rub off, but it kind of “dries” or almost solidifies after around 30 seconds, and after that, you’re going to need a makeup remover to get it to budge.
Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full-on, multicolored effect with a large selection of rich, tropical hues, deep metallics, and rich neutrals! There are more than 20 shades, including: Freak (a bright green shimmer), Cuff (metallic silver shimmer), Yeyo (metallic white), Heartless (light frosted pink), Woodstock (sparkling hot pink), Empire (dark eggplant matte) and many more!
Each one is made with 50% moisturizing ingredients in the long-lasting formula and includes Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, and Cottonseed Oil.
The only possible downside to this product was that it was a bit difficult to sharpen, due to them being so soft. Just keep this in mind and apply a bit less pressure than you normally would.
What We Liked
- Very soft, creamy feel and application
- All-day application and duration without budging
- Comes in a large variety of shades and finishes
- Beautiful packaging
What We Didn’t Like
- Need to be more gentle when sharpening
Naked3 Palette – Most Well Known Product
Another one of the Urban Decay top sellers is the Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette, which includes twelve eyeshadows, which are each 0.05 ounces, in various shades of pinks, browns, and purples. The palette includes a dual-ended application brush, as well.
The palette features highly-pigmented, soft, blendable shades which are easy to apply and last for quite a while. It’s no wonder why this is quite possibly the most well-known eyeshadow palette on the market, today!
Open up the rose gold metal case, to see the shades. They each vary quite a bit in terms of actual pigmentation, as well as staying ability.
Strange is described as a “pale, neutral pink matte satin”, and that description sums it up pretty well. It’s a neutral-to-warm light pink with an ultra satin-like matte finish. The texture is soft and very fine, and the tiniest bit goes a very long way.
Dust is a lighter metallic pink shimmer with some iridescent micro-glitter. It’s a light-to-medium pink, with more warm undertones than Strange, and a white-and-gold micro-glitter. The texture is a bit more powdery and loose than Strange, and that’s mainly due to the glitter amount. There is notable fall-out with this shade.
Burnout is a light, peachy/pink satin, and is definitely pink with a light orangey twist and a pearly finish. You only need a little to really pigment your lids, and the texture is smooth, soft, and not powdery like Dust.
Limit is a more “light, dusty rose matte”. It’s a medium-pink shade, with a more mauve undertone, which goes great with neutral-to-cool undertones. The pigmentation is good, and it’s nice, blendable, and smooth.
Buzz is a metallic rose shimmer with silver micro-glitter and is a warm, copper-rose with a frozen, metallic sheen to finish it off. It’s rich in color and is butter and soft. It’s very similar to the UD “Scratch” but is a less metallic alternative.
Trick is a light, metallic copper-pink shimmer with tonal micro-glitter. It’s a medium copper with brown undertones and gold sparkles. It has a good level of pigmentation, and even though it sparkles, it was surprisingly buttery and applied easily.
Nooner is a medium pinky-brown matte. It marks the middle of the palette, and is a medium-dark, rosy plum with neutral-to-warm undertones, with a nice matte finish. It’s well-pigmented and very soft, fine, and easy to blend. It is a bit powdery, but nothing too noticeable.
Liar is a medium metallic mauve shimmer, which is a kind of medium brown but with warm undertones and a unique metallic gray finish to seal it off. The texture is surprisingly soft, albeit, a bit powdery, but the level of pigmentation was very impressive.
Factory is where things start getting notably darker and is a pinky-brown satin. It’s a medium-dark brown, with warm pinky-red undertones, complete with a delicate, pearled finish. Pigmentation was good, and it was very fine, blendable, and soft. It was a tad bit powdery, as well.
Mugshot is a metallic taupe with a hint of pink, finished off with a shimmer. It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned taupe with a frosted, metallic finish. The pigmentation was one of the best we’d seen, and the texture was buttery and easily applicable.
Darkside is a deep taupe-mauve satin, and it’s very elegant and smooth. It’s cool-toned, purpled taupe with a delicate pearled finish. It has a good level of pigmentation, and it’s very easy to blend, fine, and a tiny bit powdery.
The final hue, is Blackheart, which was our personal favorite. It’s a smoky black matte with rosy red micro-sparkle. It’s a very deep, almost-black burgundy with warm, reddish undertones and a ruby red micro-shimmer. It’s very pigmented and goes on buttery-smooth.
The only thing we weren’t fans of was the price. It’s definitely not on the cheap side, but it will last you for quite a while, so keep that in mind! These are not only some of the best Urban Decay eyeshadow colors for blue eyes, but brown, as well.
What We Liked
- Comes in a wide variety of beautifully pigmented shades
- Comes in attractive rose-gold metal case
- Comes with double-ended brush
What We Didn’t Like
- Isn’t the cheapest product
Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition – Best Product for All Over Face
Among the Urban Decay top sellers is the Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition. If you’re worried about all of the ingredients in this liquid foundation, know that it’s packed with all of the good while avoiding the bad.
So, let’s start off with the good. This foundation features an anti-aging peptide called Matrixyl 3000, along with free-radical-shielding Green Tea, as well as Sodium Hyaluronate for hydrating our delicate skin. Along with that, it doesn’t contain any parabens, sulfates, man-made fragrances, phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan.
Who is the ideal user of this foundation? Honestly, anyone! It’s ultra-lightweight and if you don’t like the actual feeling of foundation on your face, you’ll love this. It actually looks like your skin, albeit, without any complexion irregularities.
This oil-free foundation also contains light-diffusing spheres which provide a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while leaving a demi-matte finish. The coverage is buildable, but will always provide a weightless feel!
It comes in a large variety of shades, from very fair porcelain to extra dark! The only thing we didn’t like was that it doesn’t last as long as we’d like!
What We Liked
- Comes in a wide variety of shades
- Paraben, phthalate, GMO, and Triclosan-free
- Comes with anti-aging peptides, Green Tea, and hydrates
- Very lightweight and natural-feeling, but buildable
What We Didn’t Like
- Doesn’t last as long as we’d like
Best Urban Decay Products – Buyer’s Guide
Urban Decay has evolved so much as a brand over the years. Their eyeshadows and “Naked” theme really turned the beauty industry on its head, and consistently produce high-quality products.
That being said, any of their products you buy, are going to be great. However, there are some that are frankly just better than the others.
In any product, you’ll want to make sure they don’t contain Phthalates, GMOs, and things of that nature. They’re not good for you, and anything you apply to your skin is absorbed into the bloodstream in about 25 minutes.
It never hurts to have hydrating ingredients, either. Hydration makes our skin feel better, but also look better over time, and helps with the anti-aging process.
We absolutely loved and had a blast trying on each one of these products! However, there were two that stuck out to us. The first is the Naked3 Palette. It’s simply the best eyeshadow palette on the market today and goes well with just about any occasion and any eye color. They’re well-pigmented, go on creamy-smooth, and hardly leave any fallout.
The next is the 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner. It’s highly pigmented and ultra-creamy. That means it goes on smooth, it’s comfortable and easily blendable for a variety of attractive looks. It also “dries” in about 30 seconds, and after that time, it’s not budging until you wash it off.
Which is your favorite Urban Decay product?
