Amope Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry – Best Product for Use in Wet Environments
We’re here to say that the Amope Pedi Perfect Electronic Foot File is one of the best we’ve tried, with no bias.
If you’re willing to put out a bit more money than one normally would on a foot file, you’ll receive a file that’s ultra-convenient and works quickly with little effort on your part!
We’d have to say that one of the biggest selling features in our opinion, is the fact that it is waterproof. You can sit back and relax in the tub or while taking a shower, and use the specially-designed roller heads of the Amope to give you soft, gorgeous feet in the water.
While it is electric, you also don’t have to worry about the annoyance of switching out batteries or putting out more money for new ones. This foot file is rechargeable and wireless and includes a docking station. Three hours of charging gives you a full charge, which lasts a bit over 20 minutes on average.
It’s also quite versatile.
The Amope Pedi lets you choose between two different speeds depending on your own preferences and the state of your feet. Gentle/low is for more sensitive skin or skin that isn’t as calloused over. Intensive/high buffs away rough skin easily. If you take a look at Amope before and after photos, you’ll see exactly what we’re talking about!
So, was there anything we didn’t like?
Really the only thing that could be seen as a downside is obviously the price and perhaps the fact that you have to charge for three hours only to get 20 minutes of operational time. Overall, it’s one of the best foot files.

What We Liked
- Works dry/wet environments
- 2 different speed settings depending on skin and preferences
- Rechargeable and cordless
- Very convenient and easy to use
What We Didn’t Like
- On the expensive side of things
- Takes 3 hours of charging for 20 minutes of filing
Diane European Foot File – Best Travel Product
Not only is it attractive, but it’s straightforward, easy-to-use, and most importantly, effective.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive option that’s sturdy and easy to travel with, then you should definitely look into it. The file features a handy, double-sided design with a durable beechwood handle that feels soft to the touch.
The file comes with two sides, as previously mentioned: one side is black, and one is a deep red. The black side is a coarse grain that smooths skin, and the red is also a coarse grain, that helps remove calluses. Used together, you’ll see a huge improvement in your feet and how soft and smooth they are. Take proper precaution when using this file, as it can be a bit abrasive; especially if you have more sensitive skin.
To disinfect, make sure to use your standard salon disinfectant.
Overall, if you’re looking for a foot file that’s durable, easy to travel with, and high-quality at a very low price, this should be your go-to!

- Needs to be sanitized with a salon disinfectant
Zoe+Ruth Electric Callous Remover Set – Editor’s Favorite
If you want a package that truly contains everything you need, then look no further.
The foot file/electric callus remover works to quickly and effectively remove dead skin from feet for a super-smooth and soft feel. Cracked heels and rough skin can be so bad that they can cause pain or just downright be uncomfortable. While pedicures can help, it’s so much nicer to be able to use your own foot file at your convenience.
What does the kit contain?
It has the electric callus remover itself, a roller grinding head in addition to two free refill heads, a travel storage case, a 100-240V USB universal/worldwide charging adaptor, a cleaning brush, and a warranty card. The warranty card also includes a VIP club membership to give you even more advantages!
The file can be used on wet or dry skin, given the fact that it is water-resistant. However, we don’t necessarily recommend using this one in the tub or shower, fully submerged. You can run it under the water faucet and use the brush included to clean it out.
You also don’t have to worry about replacing the batteries in this foot file grater!
Thanks to a USB-compatible, rechargeable device, you can easily and conveniently charge from a wall socket or any USB port. This makes it excellent to travel with, as you can pretty much plug it in anywhere you go!
Want to buy for someone other than yourself?
The Zoe+Ruth electric callus remover kit features sleek, beautiful packaging ideal for gift-giving.
So, are there any downsides?
The only real one is probably the price. It does cost more than your average foot file, however, given the high-quality construction, ease of use, and everything it comes with, it practically pays for itself.
What We Liked
- High-quality construction with a rechargeable battery
- Sleek, beautiful packaging great for travel or gifting
- Features three rollers
- Can be charged with wall plug-in or USB
What We Didn’t Like
- A bit more expensive than other products
ProBelle Double Sided – Best Product for Sensitive Skin
The nickel-metal surface is durable, yet much more gentle on your feet, so what’s there not to love?
In addition, it is hypoallergenic and probably the easiest foot file we found to sanitize. That means that if you’re really anal about keeping your files clean, or have especially sensitive skin, this should definitely be a contender for you.
As previously mentioned, the foot file has two sides.
One side is a medium surface, and the other is a coarse surface. The medium surface is ideal for smoothing skin or using on skin that’s more delicate. The coarse surface is great for filing away calluses or using on rougher, thicker skin.
There were a couple of things we weren’t particularly fond of.
One, was the fact that the handle is plastic, which means it’s more prone to breaking than a wooden handle would. The second is that it can only be used on dry skin. Some prefer having the ability to use their foot file on either wet or dry skin, but you won’t get that with this one.
What We Liked
- Great for use on sensitive skin
- Very inexpensive and easy to use
- Nickel surfaces vary between gentle or coarse
What We Didn’t Like
- Can only be used on dry skin
- Plastic handle isn’t as durable
Makartt Course Remover – Best Budget Product
Usually, it’s one or the other: either you spend more to get a high-quality product or you get a cheap one that will break within a few solid uses.
That is, up until the Makartt Coarse Stainless Steel Foot File made its way onto the scene.
The design is not only modernly attractive, it’s very practical and comfortable to use. It’s made of 304 stainless steel, complete with an ergonomic, non-slip plastic handle. The file is never going to rust and there’s no need to change it out. They’re commonly seen in professional salons if that’s any testament to the level of quality.
The file works in both directions; sounds kind of gross, but it works much like a grater to effectively remove all dead skin and leave your feet feeling baby soft. It’s much more effective than pumice stones, exfoliation scrubs, and callus removal gels that can often be too harsh for the skin.
As one of the best foot rasps, it’s also very versatile, with you being able to use it on either wet or dry skin. Wet skin can sometimes make tough callus buildups easier to remove, but you can use it pretty much whenever or wherever you’d like.
Despite it being such a great tool, it’s impressively inexpensive. In fact, if you’re shopping on a budget and looking for an excellent foot file, we’d have to recommend this one for the “best bang for your buck”.
What weren’t we fans of?
Really, the only thing we could think of is that the blade will eventually wear down, so you have to replace it eventually. Other than that, it’s a great product that we’re sure you’ll love.
What We Liked
- Quickly and effectively removes callus buildups
- Can be used on both wet or dry skin
- Extremely inexpensive
- Ergonomic, non-slip handle
What We Didn’t Like
- Blade will dull and require replacement at some point
How To Pick The Best Foot File For You
Now that you’ve read through each of the best foot files, you may have some more questions about which one is right for you. That’s why we’ve taken it upon ourselves to write a buying guide to lead you through each aspect of the buying process, to ensure you’re purchasing the one that’s just right for your needs!
Convenience
Are you someone who likes to sit back, relax, and really take their time with their foot care? Or perhaps you only have time to do something quickly, and need something more efficient with minimal effort on your part?
Think about how much time and effort you’re willing to put into having smooth, soft feet, and how much you really can dedicate. If you have a lot, then you may be better off with a manual foot file.
These are in no way less effective than electric ones, however, you do have to put in some extra effort. In addition, you will have to spend more time to get identical results. Keep in mind that in spite of all this, you do not have to charge the file, and it will be much less expensive.
Electric files are very convenient in that you can often use them while you’re already in the bath or shower, so not much extra time is required to get results. They are also typically rechargeable, and wireless, so you can use them practically anywhere. They work quickly, efficiently, and require practically zero effort from you!
Material
Surface material is a huge factor in choosing the best foot file for you. Do you have large callus buildups that you can’t seem to get rid of? Maybe you just have a bit of roughness or dryness on your heels and need something to ease it up a bit.
Depending on the condition of your skin, you’ll want to choose a different material that’s right for you. If it’s rougher, it’s best to go with an electric file or a manual file that’s made of stainless steel. Stainless steel is very tough, however, precaution is generally needed when using them.
If you want something not as extreme or more gentle on your feet, a nickel-metal manual file may be the answer. They’re generally softer, and oftentimes have two different surfaces for you to choose from.
Wet/Dry
Also, take into consideration where you’d like to use your foot file. Filing wet skin is generally easier and more effective in the softening of the feet, as moist skin will be more easily removed. However, not every file is recommended to use with wet skin. If you choose one that can be used with either wet or dry skin, you open yourself up to much more versatility and can use it practically anywhere.
This should be one of the first things to take into consideration before narrowing down your contenders.
Travel
Do you travel a lot and need to take your foot file with you? If that’s the case, think about what you need. You’ll want something relatively compact to carry in your carry-on, or something that travels well in luggage yet doesn’t take up too much space.
Manual files are always going to be easier to travel with, as you don’t have to worry about bringing the charger port along, and potentially deal with the different ports you’ll experience in different countries.
However, that’s not a rule.
Many electric chargers are compact, can be charged just with a USB, and some even have a voltage converter so you can easily use them in just about any country!
Price
As we always say, the price is not the only indicative measure of quality, especially when it comes to foot files. As you can see in our guide, we have a variety of different products listed at different prices, yet they’re all amazing products.
Generally and honestly speaking, electric files are going to be more expensive. Why is that?
You’re pretty much just paying for the convenience of the automated file, rather than having to put in the effort yourself. Just leave it to charge, and all you have to do is set it against your skin and you’re ready to go. Oftentimes, electric files also have different speed settings so you can adjust according to the nature of your skin!
Manual foot files are usually less expensive, but make sure you’re still getting one of quality. Ideally, pick one with a wooden handle that’s going to feel nice in your hand, and also last a long time.
Conclusion
By now, you probably know foot files inside and out! However, if you still have some questions about which one to get for you, know that each of these products is the best on the market.
Our personal favorite was the Zoe+Ruth Electric Callus Remover Set. We just really liked everything about it! First of all, it comes in a sleek, convenient bag that can be great as a gift, or equally convenient to travel with.
It includes three roller heads, which will last you quite a while. Along with that, it’s easily chargeable internationally, and can even be charged with just a USB. The rechargeable battery means you don’t have to keep buying new ones, and because it’s wireless, it can be used just about anywhere.
If electric isn’t your thing, the Diane European Manual Foot File is another wonderful option. The construction is of the highest quality, it has double sides, and is inexpensive.
So, which one of these best foot files will be making its way to your doorstep?
