JASON Normalizing – Most Trendy Product

tea tree oil for hair

About the Product

One of the consistently best rated tea tree oil shampoos on the market, is the JASON Normalizing Treatment Shampoo.

It strives to relieve scalp irritation and flakiness, while simultaneously cleansing hair, so even if you don’t deal with dandruff, you can benefit from this shampoo. Not just that, but it also features anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, and the Australian tea tree oil is just the cherry on top.

In addition, you’ll find various extracts from grapefruit, sage, and calendula. They all work to help repair damaged hair, strengthen hair follicles, and overall repair the health of the hair and scalp. It’s also very safe to use, and is free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. Not to mention, it’s cruelty-free!

Our Experience

Let’s start right off the back with the packaging. The shampoo is very clean and neat, and you can tell that right away it gives off a more sophisticated, upscale look than most others we’d come across.

What does it smell like?

It’s probably the most unique scent out of all of the ones we’d tried. It has a kind of woodsy, musky, traditional “manly” scent but it’s actually pretty strong, so if you have a delicate nose, it may be a bit much.

As far as how the shampoo itself feels, the consistency is pretty thin and slippery, so it can be pretty messy, which can lead to product waste. Despite how thin it is, though, it surprisingly foams up pretty well and is easy to apply all over the hair.

How does it feel on the hair?

It makes the hair feel surprisingly soft and clean – not overwhelming and doesn’t strip the hair of essential oils. In contrast, our scalps were a bit dry, but it wasn’t a big deal.

Are there any downsides?

Unfortunately, yes.

It does contain various allergens/irritants, such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine, which is known as one of the most common contact allergens.

What We Loved

  • Foams up well/distributes easily
  • Great for restoring moisture and softness to hair
  • Interesting scent
  • Deep-cleans hair and scalp

What We Didn’t Like

  • Contains various allergens/irritants
  • Can leave scalp feeling a bit dry

Maple Holistics Pure Tea Tree Oil – Easiest Product to Use

tea tree oil alopecia

About the Product

Out of options with stubborn dandruff? We have one that’s definitely worth giving a shot. Maple Holistics Pure Tea Tree Oil Shampoo is one of the best on the market for deep-cleaning hair follicles while getting rid of pesky flakes.

You may have heard of Maple Holistics before, as we somehow always seem to rave about their products, but it’s hard not to! They’re a reputable brand that really aims to please their customers by providing innovative products that really work. They have a wide range of shampoos, but this one is one of their best tea tree shampoos, without a doubt.

One of the main differences between this one and many others out there is the fact that it just involves the basics. It’s very natural, yet very effective without all of the extra fluff.

tea tree oil hair

We love that this natural shampoo for dandruff doesn’t contain any parabens or any other potentially harmful ingredients. While they may help lather up your hair, it doesn’t necessarily cleanse it any better.

This shampoo addresses the problem of dandruff, dry scalp, as well as seborrheic dermatitis.

How?

Tea Tree Oil is the main ingredient responsible. It is naturally cleansing and helps to fight against dangerous bacteria, yeast, and fungus, which is often the cause of itchy scalps. You probably already know that by now, but we thought we’d reiterate that for you!

What else does it feature?

For added nutrition and softness, it’s packed with essential oils, such as Rosemary, Lavender, Argan, and Jojoba oils. They are all a bit different, but altogether work to nourish and hydrate the skin and hair!

Our Experience

We love this shampoo, for various reasons.

tea tree oil hair loss

Upon opening the bottle up, you’re not overwhelmed with a fake/unpleasant scent, but rather a natural, mellow scent that doesn’t smell medicated or “manufactured”, like so many tend to be. This is fabulous because as you’re going on about your day, you will be reminded throughout that your hair is becoming healthier day by day.

Let’s start talking about how it actually works, though.

Given the fact that the formula is free of sulfates, it doesn’t foam like one might expect from their shampoo, but the consistency is just right – not too thin nor thick. Once you apply it to your hair and scalp, you can start feeling it tingling and cleansing right away. You can tell within seconds that your hair is becoming cleaner, getting rid of excess grease while still maintaining a healthy level of moisture.

Of course, it varies per person, but we only required a few applications per week to see significant results. We even noticed a little boost in volume and much more hydration of the scalp, without making our hair greasy.

Aside from functionality, we appreciate the fact that their products are cruelty-GMO-and-paraben-free.

So, were there any downsides?

The only downside was that it is a bit more expensive than most other comparable shampoos, however, we felt it was worth the price.

What We Loved

  • Doesn’t include parabens, sulfates, GMOs; cruelty-free
  • Very mild, natural fragrance
  • Works immediately; cleanses hair thoroughly
  • Hydrates scalp while soothing irritation

What We Didn’t Like

  • A bit more on the expensive end

OGX Hydrating Tea Tree Mint – Best Drugstore Product

tea tree oil for hair growth reviews

About the Product

The OGX Tea Tree Shampoo is just one of many from OGX that has worked wonders for its consumers. OGX is a brand that is consistently known as one that creates affordable, yet high-quality products, and this one is no exception.

If you’re looking for a good tea tree shampoo at Walgreens or another drugstore, then you’re pretty likely to find this one there. It is commonly found in drugstores and grocery stores alike but features the quality of a higher-end store.

So, what does it do?

It works to hydrate and nourish hair primarily, but also helps to detangle and rejuvenate damaged, oily, and/or frizzy hair. It works well on all hair types: thin, straight, thick, curly – whatever. It’s gentle enough for finer hair but effective enough to manage thicker hair.

Featuring a unique combination of Australian tea tree oils, milk proteins, and micro-infused peppermint, it works to strengthen and soften the hair and scalp in a three-in-one formula that will surely have some spring to your step and some bounce in your locks.

Our Experience

Just like all of the other shampoos from OGX, it comes in an eye-catching bottle, with a unique shape and a vivid color – in this case, a bright lime green. The shampoo itself, however, is a light, almost iridescent blue, which is a bit odd considering it doesn’t really reflect the shampoo’s ingredients, nor the bottle.

The shampoo is a bit thicker than most we’d tried and nearly feels gel-like. It feels nice between the palms of the hands, and foams up quickly, as well as distributes easily. The scent is very minty and fresh, which isn’t all that extraordinary when you look at the ingredients. Some people may not enjoy the tingly feeling it invokes on the scalp, but we found it to be an excellent boost of energy in the mornings.

How does it leave the hair?

Well, it left ours feeling soft, hydrated, and smooth. No irritation or dryness to speak of, nor was there any excess of oil.

Over time, you will find that it performs well in soothing frizziness, as well as brittle hair. If you suffer from split ends or even just unruly hair, then you need to try the Organix Tea Tree Mint!

What We Loved

  • Foams up and distributes quickly and easily
  • Sooths and calms the scalp
  • Strengthens and repairs the hair
  • Great for all hair types

What We Didn’t Like

  • It does actually include a couple known allergens/irritants

Pura D’Or Argan Oil – Editor’s Pick

does tree tea oil help hair growth

About the Product

At first glance at the name, you may not guess that the Pura D’Or Argan Oil Shampoo even features tea tree. Surprise! It’s actually one of the main active ingredients, and we love it more for it.

If you have mild-to-moderate Seborrheic Dermatitis, you may be looking for a solution you haven’t yet found. If you’re looking to control flaking, scaling, itching, and just overall irritation, look no further. Not only does this shampoo to that, but it also works to hydrate and balance the hair while soothing the skin.

This top-of-the-line product has a unique formulation crafted with essential oils and specially-selected ingredients to help get rid of dandruff by taking advantage of herbalism and getting rid of harmful chemicals.

It doesn’t just include Tea Tree Oil and Argan Oil, however. It also includes Peppermint Oil, Lemon Oil, Cedarwood Oil, Lavender Oil, Clary Sage Oil, Avocado Oil, and Patchouli Oil. Contrary to what you may think with all of these oils thrown in there, it actually works to deep-clean, as many are natural astringents, anti-inflammatories, and anti-fungal agents!

Our Experience

First of all, we will say that if you want a premium product, most times you’re going to have to pay a premium price. Pura D’Or isn’t the cheapest product on the market, but then again, as one of the best tea tree shampoos for dandruff, do you expect it to be?

Their website states they’ve been “growing a culture planted on a natural set of values and beliefs”. We feel that after trying their shampoo over a period of time, that this rings true. We were a bit hesitant to use an Argan Oil shampoo, as many seb derm sufferers can see even worse results due to the often-included Oleic Acid with AO shampoos, but that highly depends on the amount included.

Luckily for us, there was surprisingly a small amount, so don’t even worry about that!

Let’s start off with the packaging.

tea tree oil hair growth

Inside and out, it’s a top-notch product. It features an amber/oak brown-colored bottle that gives off a spa-like vibe, complete with a black, easy-to-use pump and a light blue label that catches the eye.

How does it smell?

It’s very interesting! It does feature a more natural scent, with a unique combination of peppermint, tea tree, lavender, and patchouli as the main players in the olfactory game. It may be strong for some, but for us, it was just right.

How does it feel on the hair?

It left it feeling soft, manageable, and healthy. In just over a week, we saw a drastic reduction in the appearance of flaking/scaling, and in two weeks, it had completely disappeared. While this is certainly impressive, keep in mind that you may react to the shampoo, particularly if you are sensitive to perfumes.

What We Loved

  • Very natural, gentle formula
  • Easy-to-use pump dispenser
  • Thick formula is easy to lather and disperse
  • Smells wonderful
  • Leaves hair soft, manageable, and healthy
  • Gets rid of dandruff in just a couple weeks

What We Didn’t Like

  • Is relatively expensive

Maple Holistics Dandruff – Best Budget Product

tea tree oil for hair regrowth
Are you searching for one of the best tea tree oil shampoos but are on a budget? We understand there may not be too many options out there, unless you want to compromise quality. However, you can have the best of both worlds by checking out Maple Holistic’s Sage Shampoo for Heavy Dandruff.

We know, you’re probably thinking, “Maple Holistics, again?”. We just had to throw a second one in, because we loved them both.

Rather than using a more traditional active ingredient, this shampoo uses essential oils in order to control the occurrence of dandruff. While there are other shampoos that do the same, we found that this was one of few that did the job adequately. This one may not have “Tea Tree” in its actual name, but it is one of the main active ingredients.

Upon popping open the lid, your senses will become overcome with the scent of Tea Tree, along with some other natural herbs. It’s gentle, pleasant, and anything but overwhelming.

It does suds up substantially, despite being completely sulfate-free. Due to the fact that it is free of sulfates and includes various healing ingredients, it leaves the hair feeling soft and moisturized, without it going overboard. We found it to be so healthy and manageable, that conditioner didn’t even feel necessary afterward! How’s that for a budget product?

The formula works to solve the most basic cause of dandruff, which is dermatitis; the inflammation of the skin. Redness, flaking, scaling, and dryness – no one wants to have to deal with that. That’s why we loved the inclusion of sage, which functions as one of the most efficient anti-inflammatories and anti-septics. Spikenard helps restore pigmentation to the hair, as well as aid in fighting dermatitis.

How does it leave the hair looking?

It leaves it looking shiny, due to the inclusion of Jojoba and Argan Oils. These oils both restore hair shine and the smoothness of the scalp while making sure both are well-hydrated and soft. Our hair was left feeling manageable and tangle-free, without a worry about flakes!

The only downside?

If you already have dry hair, you may need to use a conditioner as well.

What We Loved

  • Works to restore shine and smoothness of scalp
  • Helps to reduce dandruff by battling dermatitis
  • Pleasant, gentle, natural smell

What We Didn’t Like

  • With dry hair, may require conditioner as well

Conclusion

Now that you’ve learned pretty much all you could want to know about dandruff and Tea Tree Oil, have you found the best one for you? If not, that’s just fine. We highly recommend you try our Editor’s Pick, the Pura D’Or Argan Oil Shampoo.

It works to moisturize, leaving the scalp and hair feeling soft, while leaving hair tangle-free, frizz-free, and completely manageable. It also works on all hair types, so you don’t have to worry about ordering the wrong product for your locks.

It also completely gets rid of all irritation and dandruff in just the span of a couple weeks, which, was quite impressive. On top of it all, it’s very natural and free of potentially harmful chemicals that no one wants on their body!
