Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue – Editor’s Favorite
About the Product
Undoubtedly one of the top 10 best-selling perfumes in the world, it’s rare that there’s someone who hasn’t yet heard of Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue.
The stunning perfume is complex, yet simple. Difficult to describe, yet straightforward. Overwhelming, yet light.
The scent features a main theme of Sicilian citron; a lightweight citrus feeling and scent, complimented by a juicy Granny Smith apple, and brightness and freshness of bluebells.
The scent is known to be wonderfully feminine, yet musky and strong.
It is definitely the scent to go to if you want to feel empowered yet still maintain a certain level of delicateness. Feminine, resolute notes are complete with jasmine, fresh bamboo, and sensual white rose. The deep and rich base comes from cedarwood, a complex amber, and a unique kind of muskiness.
It was made to evoke the quintessential joy of life, perfectly supported by deep seduction, encased in a bright summer day. The floral, fruity combination perfectly expresses the sensuality of the Mediterranean woman.
While each scent is slightly expressed differently on each person, depending on the body chemistry and how it reacts with the fragrance, this one is not to be missed.
Consistently one of the best selling women’s perfumes, Light Blue is a scent that can be recognized easily, anywhere.
At a time when there are literally hundreds of fragrances being released per year, that’s really saying something.
Created by Olivier Cresp back in 2001, the amber and tart, fruity notes have stood the test of time; maintaining its popularity for almost two decades, now. The fragrance perfectly illustrates a beautiful exhibit of contrasting notes; floral and fruity, feminine and masculine.
This scent is probably one of the few that change very little on the skin, maintaining its original scent very well.
We feel that the scent is very versatile; evoking youthfulness just as well as it exhibits mature sophistication. It works well no matter the age of the wearer and is neither girly nor overdone. The fragrance is not a one-punch or simple. It is multifaceted and different.
If you’re looking for a truly androgynous, complex, seductive scent, this is the one for you.

Coco Chanel – Best Timeless Product
About the Product
Coco Chanel is definitely one of the best female perfumes in the world, and it’s easy to see why from first whiff.
Everything Chanel has put out is made with a purpose, and everything seems to be well-thought-out. The Coco Chanel is perhaps the most well-known out of all of the perfumes, and we’d even go so far as to use the word “iconic” to describe it.
At first scent, you can almost feel the Paris breeze blowing from the Seine.
Speaking of Paris, let’s talk about the packaging.
Yes, Chanel thinks of everything from beginning to end. This includes the packaging in which the fragrances come in. The chiseled stopper at the top of the bottle is influenced by the geometry of Place Vendome, which Gabrielle Chanel could actually see from her room at the Ritz Paris.
Continuing on that point, Chanel has continued to use baudruchage to seal the bottles of fragrances. This is a meticulous procedure performed manually, which involves covering the neck of the bottle with a fine membrane held in place by a strand of pearl-cotton thread, then subsequently sealed with a black wax stamp.
Now, let’s move on to the fragrance, itself.
It is somewhat of a paradox, which is nothing new for the creator. While she was famous for completely turning women’s fashion on its head, she was also a huge fan of the baroque style, which could be seen in the décor of her home, as well as her Byzantine jewelry.
The Coco fragrance, every so raw and true as she, is somewhat whimsical, yet radiant just as her personality, finished off in a mysterious Oriental wrapper of floral and spicy notes.
We had heard quite a bit about the legendary COCO by Chanel, but had surprisingly never tried it before. Thankfully, we fell in love with it just like many throughout the world and were surprised by just how much we took to it.
First things first: let’s talk about the packaging.
Chanel always seems to manage to create a look that’s sophisticated, intriguing, and complex, all in one package. This is consistent with the perfume’s packaging this time around as well, with a simple jewel bottle and the baudruchage method, which not only looks beautiful but shows how much they care.
What about the fragrance?
That’s pretty important, we know! This baroque-influenced fragrance somehow summons unknown feelings from the past, while seeming all so modern and unknown. At first sniff, you’ll become overwhelmed with Oriental, floral, and spicy notes: almost as if you’ve just entered a swanky yet classic location in Venice.
That’s not where the experience ends, though.
Later on, you have undertones of citrus with Sicilian Mandarin that almost gives off a kind of rustic feel. A rich waft of Jasmin and May Rose then takes over, producing a beautiful harmony within the scents, and closing the deal with a strong Indonesian Patchouli.
Coco is warm, elegant, beautifully blended, and somehow simple. It’s not a crazy scent you would never expect, but more so a Pinot Noir to accompany a fine dinner that you’ve had many times before. It still tastes great, even after the 20th time.
The one thing we didn’t like?
That it could easily become too strong if just a tad much was applied. With that being said, it’s best to start out small – especially if you’re a new wearer of the parfum.
DKNY Be Delicious – Best Spring/Fruity Fragrance
About the Product
The design house of Donna Karan has launched many wonderful products, but few compare to their Be Delicious perfume. The fragrance is one that’s unique, high-class, yet fun, all wrapped in one juicy concept.
At first glance, you can see that the perfume is going to be something special, based on the packaging alone. It’s heavily influenced by one of nature’s most delicious: the apple.
If you’re looking for one of the best casual fragrances to suit a fun event, then this is a great selection.
The fragrance is made of up of a blend of exotic flowers, sensual and rich woods, along with strong American apple notes, cucumber, and grapefruit, for an outstanding summer or spring election. It’s not too rich, nor too weak, and is a magnificent way to express individuality and freedom.
Who doesn’t like smelling good? Many people avoid perfumes because they’re worried that it’s going to be too strong. The DKNY Be Delicious is a rich scent that enriches everyone it touches, without being too overpowering.
Before even opening the scent, we knew it was going to be nice and refreshing, like a cool drink of water on a scorching summer day. The bright, fresh fragrance is bold, yet still charming enough to wear on a daily basis.
What are the top featured notes?
Green apple, violet, grapefruit, and magnolia. They give a hint of the outdoors, while still being suitable enough for a professional setting or dinner at a nice restaurant. Tuberose, lily of the valley, rose, and violet perfectly blend with notes of sandalwood, amber, and musk for a rich, bold fragrance.
The juicy apple and cucumber are fresh and clean, while the sandalwood and musk give a kind of creamy, hearty touch.
So, how long does it last?
We actually noticed it was one of the longest-lasting products, and even with daily use, still appears to be quite full.
The smell can be too much for some users, if they aren’t huge apple fans. Aside from that, the company does test on animals, which we, along with many potential consumers are against.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle – Best Product for Middle Aged Women
About the Product
La Vie Est Belle is perfectly named, and means “life is beautiful”. While we all have our ups and downs, this scent is sure to improve your day, if not only a bit.
Lancome has produced a fragrance which has become one of the most widely-loved perfumes for women on the market today. It’s feminine, great for any situation, yet still somehow maintains an air of individuality, making it easily recognizable on the street.
Lancome has attempted to create a joyful femininity and happiness, and put it in a bottle.
Utilizing the first-ever Iris gourmand, the juice is created by using the most delicate, natural ingredients, creating a modern translation of an oriental-infused scent, with a surprising twist of gourmand. Take the Iris and give it a little punch of Patchouli, complete with a sweet side of gourmand, for a complex, multi-level perfume sure to impress.
What about the bottle?
Staying true to who they are, Lancome is a modern take on “The Crystal Smile”, which was made by artistic director, George Delhomme, back in 1949. Meant to capture the founder, Armand Petitjean’s interpretation of femininity, the bottle taking on the shape of a smile executes the idea well.
All the way back in 2012, La Vie Est Belle quickly rose to fame, becoming one of the must-have perfumes for women around the globe. Needless to say, the iconic fragrance caught our eyes, and noses.
Lancome claims that La Vie Est Belle is the first-ever iris gourmand, which we were a bit confused by, as Guerlain has Iris Ganache, but we digress.
How did it hold up?
The smell is amazing and pleasant from start to finish, however, we wouldn’t necessarily describe it as an iris-focused formula. At first scent, the gourmand notes are much more prevalent, complete with a rich and sweet accompaniment without being too saccharine.
It did surprise us in how sweet and feminine it was, but in a good way.
Then, you have the addition of Patchouli, which adds a bit of an earthy side to the fragrance, with its gentle and warm presence, adding to the creamy Jasmine and vanilla notes. While it may not be the ideal perfume for a 25-year-old woman or younger, it is very sophisticated while maintaining a strong femininity and girlishness.
It would probably be best described as the olfactory equivalent of a crisp, sunny fall day, complete with a coffee in hand and a thick, flannel shirt buttoned up.
What about the packaging?
It’s unique, but not necessarily our personal favorite. The bottle is heavy and sleek, with convex sides and beveled edges. While it is different, holding it in the hand seems a bit awkward and unnatural. The spray mechanism, however, you can tell is very high-quality, and we liked the very small Lancome rose etched into the top of the atomizer button.

Calvin Klein Euphoria – Most Well Rounded Product
About the Product
Calvin Klein is a brand that just keeps making comeback after comeback. Just as soon as you think they’ve calmed down, they come out with another product or style that makes the masses go crazy. Spanning over various decades, they have a seemingly endless string of successes, and show no signs of stopping.
While their Euphoria for women has already been around for over a decade, this classic is showing no signs of going anywhere.
So, what is the fragrance like?
Euphoria is all about sexiness, fantasy, and being captivating from start to finish. It’s not so much about mystery, as it is about being blatantly sensual and encouraging the wearer to break free from everyday life and from the invisible restraints that may be holding them back.
The scent does an excellent job of provoking and helping to create a thrilling reality filled with pleasure, surprise, and temptation, all wrapped in one.
The scent features strong notes lingering somewhere between exotic fruits, seductive florals, and a rich, creamy signature that completes the full-bodied perfume. Pomegranate, persimmon, black orchid, mahogany, and more are the most notable individual aspects.
This fragrance, is what we would easily call a “crowd-pleaser”. From start to finish, it’s a scent that truly captivates.
The light fragrance is slightly fruity, sweet, and combines notes of woodiness and nature to create a scent that is also sophisticated, yet sensual. It actually made us think of champagne, with its boldness and feelings of freedom.
One scent that we felt was very similar, was the Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel, in the sense of sophistication and sexiness, while still retaining some floral, fruity scents. We prefer this one, due to the complex, multidimensional characteristics that work well in any situation or environment.
Not only that, but we feel it transfers over well from all ages. A woman in her 20’s could pull this off just as easily as a woman in her 60’s. It truly is timeless and has notes that anyone could pick out and love.
So, let’s talk about what we didn’t like.
The fact that the perfume didn’t stay on for very long. Some others on our list literally last the entire day, while this one notably fades in the matter of a mere couple hours. Other than that, we loved this perfume.
Best Perfume For Women Buyer’s Guide
Now that you’ve had the chance to take a good look at all of the best perfumes for women, you may have already made up your mind about which one you want. However, if you still have some questions or are on-the-fence about which one is perfect for you, then that’s okay!
We’ve taken it upon ourselves to create the buying guide, below, which will ensure you are picking the best fragrance for you and your mood!
It’s important to take into consideration a perfume that you feel works well for you. For many, one of the first things they consider, is their age and how it links to the perfume they’re interested in purchasing.
For example, you probably wouldn’t want to wear one of the perfumes found at a pre-teen clothing store, right? Just like pre-teens may not want to wear the same perfume as their grandmother. While age shouldn’t confine you to certain products, it’s true that our tastes change as we get older, and certain notes or “moods” may not be as desirable as others.
With that being said, it may help you to take a look at the recommended perfume for certain age groups or preferences to help narrow down your options!
What kind of fragrances do you typically go for? Do you really like the sweet, light, or fresh scents? Perhaps more spring or summer-appropriate scents? If so, then you’ll probably like a more fruity fragrance.
Do you enjoy more sophisticated scents or conservative, more traditional-smelling perfumes?
Then you may want to go with a floral scent. Floral perfumes are some of the first that we come across in our lives, and it’s totally natural to enjoy them. However, floral scents usually have another aspect to them, such as fruitiness, or even woodsy notes.
Wood-infused fragrances invoke feelings of being in the outdoors, but can also be provocative and sexy. Usually, wooden scents are blended with another such as fruitiness or floral notes to create a well-rounded, full experience sure to captivate any wearer.
Most of us just look at the scents when purchasing perfumes, but there are honestly so many more aspects to consider, such as how long the perfume actually lasts. Are you planning on wearing your perfume all day long?
Most of us do.
So, you’re not going to want one that’s going to fade after an hour or two, right?
Bringing a perfume in your bag may not seem like a big deal, but for many, it’s an inconvenience or just not logical.
With that being said, make sure you read up on the wear time of each beforehand.
This kind of ties in with the previous point, but most of us do take price into consideration when making a purchase decision. It may not even be about price or budget, but more about relating it with quality.
With that being said, we do recommend thinking of an amount that you would feel comfortable spending, and making sure you stick to that number so you don’t risk any kind of buyer’s remorse. Even though we loved all of these perfumes, there is always that chance with the majority of purchases we make.
We also know that many of the best perfumes for women aren’t exactly inexpensive. So, make sure to look into how much each of the perfumes you’re interested in cost, and how large the bottles are. Also, take into consideration how long the scents last. Those which last only a couple hours are obviously going to require you to use more product, which is going to use more of the product in a short amount of time.
This isn’t usually as important to most consumers, but it still plays a factor in which one you select. Is the bottle easy to hold? Does it have a natural feeling? Is it exciting or interesting to look at? Many perfume bottles are, but there are some that are just plain boring and not well-designed at all.
You may also want it to be functional.
No one wants a perfume where you have to slam on the sprayer to get product out, just to end up with it dribbling all over your hands, thus wasting product and time.
Now that you know pretty much all there is to know about the best perfumes for women, you’ve probably already decided on the perfect one for you. However, if you haven’t, then allow us to recommend once again, Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana.
It’s perfectly well-rounded, invoking feelings of the Mediterranean breeze, with fruity and crisp notes and the perfect contrast between masculine and feminine. It’s perfect for any time of year, time of day or night, and any event.
The scent perfectly works with any age group, as well. The timeless fragrance lasts all day long, so you don’t have to keep on reapplying or wasting product. In addition, it’s one of the most affordable fragrances, considering its high level of quality.
So, which one of these best perfumes for women will be making their way into your home?
